“You gotta dance like there’s nobody watching…sing like there’s nobody listening…” – W. Purkey
Chrystil would wholeheartedly agree that there is nothing better for the soul than singing and dancing with wild abandon. Music lifts the spirit of the 19-year-old who bravely faces a neurological condition and an autoimmune disease. When Make-A-Wish U.S. Virgin Islands told Chrystil that she could ask for anything she desired, she insisted on her heartfelt wish for a Sing & Dance Party.
Bella Vera gave the belle of the ball the royal treatment as Chrystil picked out jewelry and the “pretty pink party dress” she’d been dreaming about. Hairstyling and makeup were perfected by Sugar & Spice Beauty Salon to enhance her natural beauty and put the finishing touches on her party look. She was ready for her soiree!
A limousine whisked Chrystil and her family off to the Marriott Frenchman’s Reef Resort. Chrystil was giddy with excitement as she was presented with roses and escorted inside by St. Thomas Police Academy cadets. The ballroom was swathed in flowers and banners with her name. Her friends and family were all there. “I felt like a star,” she exclaims.
When the DJ struck up Chrystil’s favorite songs, including Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” it was her cue to hit the stage. Her wish granter, Michele Baker, loved seeing Chrystil and her friends on stage. “They looked like they were having the time of their lives up there. They were singing, dancing, bouncing…it seemed like four wishes were granted that day!”
Chrystil’s warm smile showed her genuine gratitude as she personally thanked everyone in attendance with lollipops and flowers to take home. Her mother, Ana, said Chrystil hasn’t lost the high yet. “Make-A-Wish is a group of great people who make it possible for children to have these experiences when they might not have had the opportunity. You don’t know the magnitude of what they do until you experience it! Chrystil is truly grateful!”
